THE FANTASTIC
WORLD OF LETTERS
Many stories are used with:
"once upon a time", "erase once" ... but this is not a
story from a story book, this is the story of life, because at the same time,
the real problems are enough, with the demons that coexist in this land and
that we call home.
And our character is not the
princess of the mythical castle ... she is a simple girl, but perhaps, for some
father or mother; your girl, is not she the most beautiful and wonderful
princess? Everything is a matter of points of view.
This is a little lady named
Lucy, who was fortunate to be born in a place for the camp, one in common in
the newspapers and on television, nothing beyond the field that produces the
food that supply the big cities, so simple, but what would happen if these
fields do not pay attention? It would not be another field anymore ...
Lucy grew up among the sound of
the river, the song of the birds and the smell of damp earth, daughter of
farmers, she knew the crops, the sound of the animals, she studied in a rural
school, a school like so many others in the country, but for her it was her
paradise, the most beautiful and special, however, all the resources and
support of the great educational centers, Lucia's love for her school was
simple, that was her school, and for a girl who loves to study; It was her
treasure, because unlike the centers of the big cities, her school was within
her reach.
In this place she acquired her greatest taste, reading, since thanks to her teacher he was able to learn to read, few things separated it from a book, at least for a time; for Lucy these instruments were magical, there was nothing that resembled him, when closing his eyes he imagined so many places, so many worlds, that even the most powerful television screen could not recreate; by wandering through its pages I knew so many incredible and wonderful characters, so many formidable villains, so many incredible heroes, that no film could truly capture it.
And just like that, he
became hooked on a world of dragons, vampires and fairies ... of ancient
societies, futuristic worlds ...
But that love for reading
was also the result of many tears, when the little prince had been read 10
times, when the old books of July Verne and dropped their yellow pages ... when
the teacher had no more books to lend to Lucy, what could this beautiful
princess do? How to continue with her passion?
How does a girl, a fervent
reader, face a world in which it is cheaper to pay a month of television than a
single book? How to give food to her mind, if the nearest bookstore is
thousands of kilometers away? away?
It is difficult for parents who
do not finish primary school, for a teacher who does not have the resources,
how does a girl face a rude and corrupt government, which is not interested in
the education of her people?
Many nights of pain tormented
this girl, who only wanted to spend part of her afternoons, after helping at
home, devouring stories of non-existent worlds; reaching the soul of writers
who left their mark on time with their creations. Is the happiness that a
dreamer deserves so difficult?
This problem may seem out of
date, but perhaps if we ask ourselves, what is the last book we read? Where is
the nearest bookstore? What is my favorite character from a book? Among many
others ... the answers do not overwhelm us overwhelmingly ?, are we not part of
that banal and simplistic world of junk programs, soap operas, things with no
real value that steal our precious time and do not teach us anything?
But sometimes life is not so
unfair, sometimes incredible things happen to people who, if they deserve them
and despite what happened to Lucy, maybe it's something so simple, that, your
cousin, friend, neighbor it happened ... for this simple little girl, it was
very significant.
For his academic achievements;
for her effort and dedication, she was rewarded with a simple and cheap
technological object, a device that would give this girl more happiness than
she gives her neighbor, your capricious and spoiled nephew.
A Tablet, a technological
device so simple, that we see it every day on the street, at a bus stop,
subway, or in the hands of a brawny kid who uses it exclusively for the facebook
and play.
Lucy decided to use it slightly
differently than we are used to, because technology is not bad or good by
itself, it is the use we give to it, what is bad or good.
In the right hands, those of
Lucy, that Tablet meant access to hundreds of free books and audio books, which
with the teacher's support she was able to download in her new friend, since
the teachers are no longer the owners of knowledge, they are the ones who they
guide and support the students.
Now Lucy has the ability to
read the book she wants from hundreds she has, listen to the stories narrated
by the same authors through her audio books ...
This is how she was able, in
addition to her studies and chores, in her free time, to immerse herself in the
world she loves so much, in an infinite knowledge, in a different reality, and
of course, she never forgets the pleasure of turning a page, the smell
magnificent of a new book ... so he knows that when he gets his hands on some
book he will enjoy it with eagerness and delicacy, and that when he grows his
house will be adorned with shelves, shelves that will be sacred palaces of
knowledge and imagination, shelves full of books; and who knows, maybe an old
Tablet ...

Hi Sully
Interesting call of action
you are given us in your story. It's not technology by itself which make it
proper or not to humans, it's the way we use it.
I could say your story
follow the structure of a single experience, which go through a moment of crisis
and it becomes in a decisive change with a narrative resolution. Your story has
a well-described character, settings and also is creative. The number of words
is exceeded by just 5. So it's easy to correct them and fit with the tutor's
recommendations.
Some suggestions I'll give
you are about the position of words:
in it there will not appear
dragons or horrible monsters to torment the characters: there will not appear
dragons or horrible monsters that torment the characters (you could
omit in it, because you are referring about the story in the sentence before).
From paragraph 5 there are
possesive pronouns and adjetive referring to "he". I got a little
lost because I think (clarify me if I'm wrong) you are talking about Lucy, a
girl and there is not mention about a boy in the story.
what Could this beautiful
princess do?: "could" should be in lowercase.
Thanks for sharing your
story.

Dear E-mate Suly,
Good morning
By means
the following message, I would like to tell you that I was looking at your
story and your file is very clear and facilitates the understanding of the
concepts, because of you expose important information based on the life experience,
giving us different perspectives around the issue in a kind of persuasive
narrative, for which the reader needs to consider the position or point of view
proposed.
In other
words, when we write a story, this kind of narrative allows us to know a
composition constituted by feelings, specific details or even experiences; in
order to transmit the essence of the text around the events and sequence of
elements exposed, and that is the function of the writter, investigate, study
and know in perfect way the subject.
Taking
into account the above, I want to underline the part where you declare: "reaching
the soul of writers who left their mark on time with their creations. Is the
happiness that a dreamer deserves so difficult?" because you give
evidences and examples around the topic or position proposed; searching to
resolve questions and convince the reader, with the purpose to provide a
complete and detailed information to facilitate the knowledge.
Finally,
in relation with the general scheme of your writing, I would like to give you
some recommendations that I hope you find useful, try to be careful to the use
of the personal and possesive pronouns and the capital letters, for example:
I knew
so many incredible and wonderful characters,
; Your
girl,
; It
was his treasure,
neighbor
It happened ...
In essence, your story is
very realistic. Little tip: you could add a title on it.
Thanks for sharing your
valuable contribution with us!
Have a good one,
Angie Sánchez
regards. While I have access to the blog I post my story as a commentary, to leave evidence of the developed work.
